Reasons to Consider a New Career in Wellness
A lot of people ask me why I would want to share the information about where I went to school with my clients. Most likely, they are thinking that it would take business away from everything we have built. Turns out, there are many reasons to consider a career in health and wellness. I want to make sure you know about a few of them.
1. This world needs more of us. I would love nothing more than for there to be more health and wellness coaches. According to the CDC, half of Americans are facing obesity and type 2 diabetes. Something has to change. So many people are in need of the education and the motivation to make healthier choices. The need to clarify the confusion behind “being healthy” in today’s world is growing.
2. It’s simpler than you think. Furthering your education in nutrition also does not require the time or investment like those of a dietician or doctor. However, a similar level of passion is definitely required. I loved listening to my online courses in the car and on walks outside. The flexibility was definitely a must while I was working other jobs.
3. It just might be perfect for you. Successful health and wellness counselors tend to be creative and a little “different.” They tend to be more creative and sensitive, knowing they have something they are dying to share, but aren't always sure how to do it. Their values include flexibility, relationships and high quality of life. Not only do they crave helping others, but living a life of example. Sound familiar?
4. You have nothing to lose by simply asking for more information. If you have been considering a change for one reason or another, you should allow yourself the chance to learn more.
